Scenic Driftboat Trips on the Lower Main Salmon River
Helfrich River Adventures Salmon River Scenic Driftboat trips are run in driftboats with two passengers and one guide per boat. The driftboat trips run five days, four nights in length covering many miles of this pristine wildlife environment.

The five day adventure takes you down the final 55 miles of the Salmon Rivers Main Stem and 15 miles of the Snake River, travelling through some of the most beautiful country in the US.

At each night's stop a deluxe camp is setup where we cook and BBQ steak, fish, dutch oven biscuits, fresh salads and more all in fine Northwest Style.

A list of suggested equipment is sent to each person on the trip, we furnish tents cooking and fishing gear as well as beer and soft drinks.

The classic high-rise rocker bottom McKenzie drift boats we use have been improved upon over the past 80 years for use on the Northwest's famous rivers. Not only can they run whitewater, but in the hands of our able guides these stable boats can quietly and precisely maneuver into the smallest canals and streams to view wildlife at it's most pristine.

Each drift boat carries 3 people, 2 guests and 1 guide.

Don't forget to bring the essentials such as binoculars, a camera, rain gear, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen and beverages. See our packing list here.

river location graphicIdaho's Salmon River is the largest free-flowing river the in the lower 48 states. Getting it's start in the Sawtooth Mountain Range and joined by the Middle Fork the Salmon has gouged a deep desert canyon that sees little if any human traffic.

Magnificent scenery, incredible camping, crystal clear water and the solitude of the Desert West all await you on Idaho's Salmon.
