Drift boat Fishing on the Mckenzie River
Native and hatchery fish provide excellent fishing on the McKenzie River. The Helfrich family spends more time fishing the Mckenzie than anyone and will work hard to make your trip successful and enjoyable.
Helfrich River Adventures McKenzie River fishing trips are run in driftboats with two fisherman and one guide per boat, fishing tackle is provided but each fisherman must purchase their own fishing license.
Half Day McKenzie River Fishing
Half Day McKenzie River Fishing trips can be run during any daylight hours; although times are best determined by the best fishing times, the guides local knowledge and availability. Half Day McKenzie River Fishing Trips are 3 1/2- 4 hrs.
Full Day McKenzie River Fishing
Full Day McKenzie River Fishing trips are usually 7- 7 1/2 hrs and the morning's catch is cooked for lunch or picnic style lunch.
Equipment
The classic high-rise rocker bottom McKenzie River drift boats we use have been improved upon over the past 80 years for use on this famous river. Not only can they run the McKenzie River whitewater, but in the hands of our able guides these stable boats can quietly and precisely maneuver into the smallest nooks and crannies to find the allusive big ones.
Each McKenzie River drift boat carries 3 people, 2 fisherman and 1 fishing guide. We can also accommodate 2 adults and 1 child or 1 adult and 2 children with no rate increase.
When fishing the Mckenzie River with one of our guides top quality fishing equipment is supplied by us, but in the event that you have a lucky rod or certain setup that you prefer we encourage all fisherman to bring along their favorite equipment, whether it's fly or spinning gear.
We will schedule all our McKenzie River Fishing trips for the times that work for our guests. If you want to fish late or early that's fine with us, but we will always give our suggestions for best results.
When fishing the McKenzie River, don't forget to bring the essentials such as rain gear, an Oregon fishing license, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen and beverages.

They graciously share their local area knowledge with our clients, providing local background and historical information of the river. Not only are our guides knowledgeable and friendly but also some of the greatest oarsman and fisherman the area has to offer.
Rates
Half-day trip: $350 per boat (one or two fisherman)
Full-day trip: $450 per boat (one or two fisherman)
All trips can also accommodate a 3rd person (child) for no additional charge.
